7 Must-Haves For An Amazing New Year, (& Ultimately, New You)

Every time the new year comes around, we make goals and resolutions that tend to get left behind as our old habits and routines take over.


Or, we have those few that reject the concept of resolutions and prefer goals (not sure of the big difference here), but regardless, we should be always working to improve ourselves, right??



What better excuse to make big changes in our life than during the beginning of the year.


So, I’ve rounded up my list of the 7 must-haves for an amazing 2019!


1. BOOKS


I’ve been a little obsessive over all of my new self-development and mindset books, and in fact, it’s probably something worth another blog post about because I have so much to say about it, but for now, I will say, try a self-improvement book.


Here are three of my faves:


1. You Are A Badass by Jen Sincero


This book is probably the OG self-development book. Jen is AMAZING and brutal (in a nice way). She dumbs down how absolutely awesome and badass you are. If you’re full of self-deprecating thoughts or self-doubt or maybe even questioning your worth, this book is for you. It’s literally less than $10 on Amazon, so if it doesn’t help you, you’ll survive. But, imagine if it does help you. Imagine if this book could change everything. That $10 would be worth it, rght?



2. Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod


I’m not sure how familiar you are with the process of energy and its ability to change your world through positive thinking, self-development, and self-care. After reading his book and following his protocol for ONLY A WEEK, so much opportunity presented itself to me. It’s wild. I went from stagnancy to: an invite to be on a well-known podcast, a couple new clients in my business (one of which I hadn’t heard back from in months), starting a second official business, and several other amazing things that I won’t bore you with. By investing in yourself, good things will come. I’d suggest giving this a read if you’re feeling stagnant, down, unmotivated, unworthy, or maybe just low energy.



3. Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis


I was inspired to write this blog post today because of Rachel Hollis. I just got back from her documentary, Made For More, and it was amazing. In my opinion, she is one of the most genuine and passionate entrepreneurs out there truly looking to help other women change the world. Girl, Wash Your Face is the perfect read for women who want more for themselves, but feel unworthy or unable to reach new potential. In fact, I encourage you to visit her website for more inspiring information from her.





2. AN AWESOME PLANNER


What would you be without your planner, am I right!? I’m still one of those peeps that prefers physically writing down my tasks, meetings, and content. So, my favorite planner ever is none other than The Content Planner. It’s kind of one of those things where you have to see to believe, but oh my, it’s PERFECT for those who are planning content. She has these little stickers that you can place that categorizes your planner by platform (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Skype, etc.). It’s also a 15-month spread, so you can start it whenever you’d like and keep it longer than a full year!





3. A NEW WATER BOTTLE

This may sound silly, but NEVER underestimate the power of hydration and how it correlates not only with better health, but also with better mindset, productivity, and success. I had been struggling with drinking enough water in my day, EVEN while simply having the intention to drink more. So, I downloaded a water app to track my water and my amazing boyfriend got me a beautiful light blue Hydro Flask for Christmas and I’ve been hitting my water goals ever since!





4. SELF-PAMPERING PRODUCTS


Nothing is better than taking the time to pamper yourself, right?? This year, I really started focusing on my skincare routine and it’s turned into a new hobby that I absolutely love. Yes, I use more steps than I used to, but my skin looks and feels younger and healthier. If skin care isn’t your thing, maybe try new hair masks or body lotions! For me, I’ve been loving the moisturizer and face oil by Ashley Asti.




5. A NEW HOBBY


I left this one blank because I want you to use your own imagination here and find something that you’ve always wanted to do or learn, but never got around to it. We ALL have enough time to add in SOMETHING to our lives, no matter how many kids we have, how many businesses, how many dogs, how many anything. Find 10 minutes a day to do something YOU want to do.


For example, I got Jesse a small keyboard because he’s always wanted to learn to play an instrument. He takes about 5-10 minutes a day during the week to sit down and learn something on the keyboard. It’s these little things that make a big difference in your day, which ultimately begins to impact your whole life.


What are you adding in to your life? How are you spending your time? Are you just watching endless TV or can you do something a little more productive or stimulating??



6. NEW SHOES


Now trust me here, I am not saying to go out for a run. I do not do running. At all. But, it feels REALLY good to take walks. Take your dog and go for a walk every single day, at least once. As part of my Miracle Morning routine, I do a five-minute yoga stretch and then take Wilson out on a walk and it feels so dang good. It was the one part of my morning routine I thought I’d dread the most, but it’s actually my favorite part. So, get yourself some shoes if you don’t have any good ones, and go outside. I LOVE my Merrell’s, but you can get any kind you want. The point here is that no matter what, you have time to just walk and think and reflect.



7. TO-DO LIST OR JOURNAL


Lastly, it’s time to get an actu I use it for 2 reasons:


1. So that I actually have a list that I can go through to figure out what I can accomplish throughout my day.

2. I also use it at night time to get all of my thoughts out of my head and onto a piece of paper so I don’t end up taking hours to fall asleep.


This is one of the best practices I’ve adopted in the new year and I’ve been sleeping so much better!
