You've seen them on your favorite famous Instagrammer's page. Visible underneath all of the verbiage and the one business link allowed by Instagram are super cute and little icons with awesome Instagram stories.
And guess what, they can stay visible AS LONG AS DESIRED! No more "only 24 hours" nonsense, which is great, especially if it's some of your very best and most valuable content that you want around for longer!
I'll admit it -- They do look good! And very professional! Which means you probably think it's something custom-made by a 'professional' designer, right?
Well, maybe. It's possible. But hey, you can actually make them too!!
AND, it's SUPER SUPER easy to do and I'll show you how now.
WHAT YOU NEED:
MATERIALS: a laptop (optional), phone, and a pup by your side
TIME: about 1 minute
STEPS:
Step 1: Go to www.Canva.com or download the Canva app on your phone. It's completely free, unless you want any of the pro/plus features, but a free account is totally fine for this!
Step 2: Click on 'Create a design.'
Step 3: Click on 'Use custom dimensions' in the right, upper corner.
Step 4: Enter dimensions '1080 x 1920' in the text field.
Step 5: You'll see a blank white background in the shape of what goes into your normal Instagram stories. Click on 'Background' on the left to choose whatever background you want. You can pick a solid color background or add in shapes, textures, anything you'd like!
Step 6: Now, it's time to go to 'Elements' and click 'Icons.' This is where you can pick the actual icon that you'll see in each of your highlight reels. It's best to go with something simple here so it's visually appealing and user-friendly! You can also go back to 'Elements' and click 'Shapes' if you want a circle border around your icon like we have shown below.
Tada! You're done! All you have to do now is download the graphics and get it onto your phone so you can add them to your IG story.
*Tip here* - Before publishing them, be sure to let your customers/clients know what you're doing so they don't just see random icons! You can let them know you're making icons for fun stories coming soon or something easy like that!
Okay, from there, click on one of your highlights, and in the more section with the three circles, click 'Edit Highlight,' go over to 'Archive,' add it to the highlight you desire and then you can edit the cover. And that's about it!!
Easy peasy, right!?
